About Red POP! News

At Red POP! News, we celebrate the brilliance of Indigenous creativity across generations. From the wisdom of our elders to the fire of our youth, Indigenous people have been a part of pop culture since before it had a name, but our contributions and achievements have too often been erased, ignored, stolen, and repackaged without recognition. From fashion to film, music to memes, we’ve been trendsetters and culture-shapers since time immemorial. Even when we’re not seen, we’re still setting the trend, still here, still rising, and louder than ever.

Red Pop! News is where that truth lives and thrives. We cover Indigenous pop culture with love, humor, pride, and purpose. We honor where we’ve been, where we are, and the futures we’ve yet to see.

At Red Pop! News, YOU ARE THE STORY, WE ARE THE MIC.

About the Founder

Johnnie Jae is a storyteller, advocate, and creative force dedicated to amplifying Indigenous voices across generations. Their journey began with A Tribe Called Geek, a platform they co-founded to celebrate Native creators in gaming, comics, and geek culture. From there, Johnnie expanded into projects like Grim Native, exploring Indigenous horror and folklore, always centering Indigenous perspectives and creativity.

As the founder of Red Pop! News, Johnnie continues this work, blending respect for tradition with a love of contemporary culture. Through the publication, they highlight the brilliance, humor, and resilience of Indigenous people, reclaiming narratives and celebrating contributions that have too often been erased, ignored, or repackaged without recognition.

Johnnie’s work is focused on building platforms where Indigenous people can see themselves, feel seen, and imagine the futures they are shaping.
