Titan Books has revealed the cover for Stephen Graham Jones’ upcoming novel Off the Reservation, giving readers their first look at the highly anticipated follow-up to The Only Good Indians.

Scheduled for release this October, Off the Reservation follows Nate Yellow Tail, one of the survivors of the events of The Only Good Indians. Five years later, Nate is recovering from the massacre that occurred on the Blackfeet reservation and nearly claimed his life and left his friend Sebby fighting for survival. When an opportunity arises to help bring home the remains of a Blackfeet boy who died at the Carlisle Indian Industrial School, Nate joins three other Blackfeet travelers on a cross-country journey to reclaim what was taken.

Their mission is to repatriate the boy’s remains and return him home. However, once the group secures the bones, they discover something else has escaped and is hot on their trail.

As with much of Jones’ work, Off the Reservation draws from the realities of Native history, including the legacy of boarding schools and the ongoing work of bringing ancestors home. Those histories collide with horror as Jones explores what happens when the past refuses to stay buried.

Before readers get their hands on Off the Reservation, Jones will be crossing the Atlantic for a series of appearances in support of his latest novel, The Buffalo Hunter Hunter.

The book has become one of the most talked-about horror releases of the year and is shortlisted for three major genre awards: the Bram Stoker Award, the Nebula Award, and the Splatterpunk Award.

Set in 1912, The Buffalo Hunter unfolds through a diary written by a Lutheran pastor, discovered years later inside a wall. Within its pages are recorded conversations with a Blackfeet man named Good Stab, whose story stretches back to the deaths of 217 Blackfeet people left in the snow.

Jones is the New York Times bestselling author of numerous novels, collections, and novellas, including The Only Good Indians, Don’t Fear the Reaper, and Earthdivers. Over the course of his career, he has received the Ray Bradbury Award, the Mark Twain American Voice in Literature Award, the Bram Stoker Award, the Shirley Jackson Award, and the Independent Publishers Award for Multicultural Fiction. He currently lives and teaches in Boulder, Colorado.
