Production is OFFICIALLY underway on season two of North of North as fans impatiently await the return to Ice Cove. The new season is being produced for APTN, CBC, and Netflix, with Red Marrow Media and Northwood Entertainment returning as production partners. The series is set to premiere later in 2026.

Created by Stacey Aglok MacDonald and Alethea Arnaquq-Baril, North of North follows Siaja, a young Inuk mother, recently separated from her husband and emotionally adrift, living in the small Arctic community of Ice Cove. Set against the rhythms of life in the North, Siaja navigates work, co-parenting, dating, and long-standing family dynamics in a town where everyone knows your business, leading to some unforgettably funny and heartfelt moments.

Anna Lambe returns in the lead role, joined once again by Maika Harper, Braeden Clarke, Jay Ryan, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Zorga Qaunaq, Bailey Poching, Nutaaq Doreen Simmonds, and Keira Cooper. Filming is currently taking place in Iqaluit, Nunavut, and Toronto, with production scheduled to continue through April.

North by North season one premiered in Canada in January 2025 before its global Netflix release that spring. Critics embraced the series, earning it a 100 percent Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The show went on to collect five honors at the 2025 Directors Guild of Canada Awards, including Outstanding Directorial Achievement in a Comedy Series for Danis Goulet, and recognition for its full comedy series crew. It has also received nominations from Film Independent for Best New Series and Best Performance in a New Series for Lambe. North of North also swept all five of the 2026 WGC Screenwriting Awards nominations for Best Comedy series.

Audiences responded just as favorably, and the series became the most-watched new program on CBC Gem since the platform launched and ranked among APTN’s strongest scripted debuts of the Winter 2025 season. North of North appeared on the global top 10 for English-language series on Netflix.

The wait until North of North season two may feel long, but if season one is any indication, the return to Ice Cove is more than worth it. In the meantime, North of North season one is streaming on APTN+CBC Gem and Netflix.
