The Heard Museum opened its newest exhibit, Molly of Denali: An Alaskan Adventure, bringing the acclaimed PBS KIDS series produced by GBH Kids to life for visitors. The exhibit opened to the public on Tuesday, June 2.

Set in the fictitious rural Alaskan village of Qyah, the series follows the adventures of Molly Mabray along with her family, friends, and dog Suki. The show is infused with Alaska Native values, history, traditions, and language, and the exhibit reflects that spirit by showcasing Alaska and Molly’s life across both the summer and winter seasons.

Visitors can pretend to fly a replica bush plane, drive a snowmobile, and navigate a snow maze in snowshoes. At the center of the exhibit, guests will find the Trading Post and the Tribal Hall from the series, where they can explore the great outdoors of Alaska and learn about Alaska Native life through activities such as camping, ice fishing, discovering replica ice sculptures, and caring for sled dogs.

Technology is integrated throughout the exhibit, reflecting the series’ educational focus on introducing Informational Text curriculum to young learners. Visitors can become part of Molly’s vlog and enjoy games, hands-on activities, and apps available on the PBS KIDS website. At the Tribal Hall, guests will explore Alaska Native culture through interactive learning opportunities, while the Trading Post highlights Alaska’s geography, unique activities, and native animals.

Molly of Denali: An Alaskan Adventure is a nationally traveling exhibit created by The Magic House, St. Louis Children’s Museum in collaboration with GBH Kids and a team of Alaska Native advisors. The exhibit will remain at The Heard Museum through August 30 and is included with admission to the Museum.
